A Pesach Blessing

Betzalel and Oholiav, חרשים – Charashim, were filled with the Spirit of G-d in order to create all the beautiful artwork in the Tabernacle in Jerusalem.

This word Charash חרש doesn’t just refer to those who are skilled in art, music, dance, writing and more, but also one who’s skilled in destruction.

Ezekiel 21:31 “I will pour out My indignation on you; I will blow on you with the fire of My wrath, and I will give you into the hand of brutal men, skilled חָרָשֵׁי in destruction מַשְׁחִית.

This word מַשְׁחִית Mash-chit which means destruction, is also found in Exodus 12:13, which is the chief verse in the Pesach פסח Seder:

“The blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you live; and when I see the blood I will pass over פסח you, and no plague will befall you to destroy מַשְׁחִית you when I strike the land of Egypt.”

This is a gentle reminder that יהוה anoints His חרשים, prophetic artisans to create beautiful works of art for His glory but He also calls us, as in Zechariah 1:17-21, to destroy the enemies of Israel!

Thus says the L-rd of the Armies, “My cities will again overflow with prosperity, and יהוה will again comfort Zion and again choose Jerusalem.”
Then I lifted up my eyes and looked, and behold, there were four horns.
So I said to the angel who was speaking with me, “What are these?” And he answered me, “These are the horns which have scattered זָרָה (cast out, dispersed) Judah, Israel and Jerusalem.”
Then יהוה showed me four craftsmen חרשים.
I said, “What are these coming to do?” And He said, “These are the horns which have scattered Judah so that no man lifts up his head; but these craftsmen חרשים have come to terrify חָרֵד (route out in terror) them, to throw down יָדָה (cast out / also to praise יהוה) the horns of the nations who have lifted up their horns against the land of Judah in order to scatter it.”

The interesting thing about that word יָדָה is it’s the root of יהודה Judah!

Genesis 49:8-9

Judah, your brothers shall praise you; your hand shall be on the neck of your enemies; Your father’s sons shall bow down to you. Judah is a lion’s whelp; from the prey, my son, you have gone up. He couches, he lies down as a lion, who dares rouse him up?”

May יהוה anoint each of you as His prophetic artists חרשים to create for His glory and to praise His holy name, and may you also be anointed to terrify and destroy the enemies of Israel!
