A View of Gilead

Have you ever noticed how יהוה settles His children with a view from home of where He’s called us to pray for, participate in and influence?

We are blessed with a beautiful view of the Yavniel & Jordan Valleys, Golan Heights, Kineret and Mount Gilead. Gilead גלעד is a mountainous, fertile region in NW Jordan which was the inheritance of Reuben, Gad and half tribe of Manasseh. It’s also the birthplace of my favorite prophet Elijah and the Biblical site of the healing Balm of Gilead. Micaiah prophesied Ahab’s demise here, favored verses 1 Kings 22:19+

In Genesis 37:25 traders brought the Balm of Gilead into Egypt and when Joseph’s brothers carried the finest of Israel to Joseph in Egypt, they would’ve included this Balm. However, many verses describe the iniquities that occurred in Gilead and in Jer 8:21 and 46:11, even the Balm of Gilead can’t bring healing to Israel nor Egypt.

Yet after all our sufferings, in Jer 31:17 we’re given hope for our children to return to their own Land and Micah 7:14 declares “Shepherd Your people with Your scepter, the flock of Your possession which dwells…in the midst of a fruitful field. Let them feed in Bashan and Gilead as in the days of old.”

Could the Balm of Gilead be more than a physical salve for our external wounds? Could it also be our Healer, Messiah Yeshua, the only One who can bring complete emotional, spiritual and physical healing as He binds up our wounds and pours out on us His love, forgiveness, deliverance and restoration that leads us to eternal salvation…

How do you see Messiah in the place where you’ve been planted?
