A word about Ink Drops and Thirds

When a glass of clean, clear water is offered, you can drink it or offer it to one who is thirsty. Or if you suspect contamination, pour it on the ground.

Then I saw a man who seemed sculpture-perfect drip a black inky substance one drop at a time with a medicine dropper into the glass of clean, clear water. As the ink dissipated, it formed tiny tentacles that reached every corner of the glass. Before administering the next drop, the man waited until the water “cleared up”. The process continued until some noticed the dimming of light through their water glasses. As the drops continued, most complacently acquiesced, while some sought a cleaner place in the country. But eventually the deadly ink touched all.

Many began to rebel, but unlike the nazi, communist and Islamic regimes, there seemed no way to resist.

Then the word יסוד (Yasod) appeared and I was led to explore 2 Chronicles 23 for clues.

During the murderous reign of Athaliah, an assembly made a covenant with the King in the House of G-d, declaring “The King’s Son shall reign!”

Jehoida the priest appointed a third of the priests and Levites to be gatekeepers, another third at the King’s House, and another third at the Gate of the Foundation. Each was given a weapon and then sent to their stations as Gatekeepers for the King. With rejoicing and praise to יהוה they crowned the King in public and put to death עֲתַלְיָהוּ Athaliah, the afflicted daughter of Ahab and Jezebel.
Then Jehoiada made a covenant between himself and all the people and the King, that they would be the L-rd’s people.

The sound of desperate longing emanated from the depths of the heart of the religious Jews for Ezra 3 to reoccur, leading to the foundation of the Third Temple.

Then I saw the concept of 1/3 linger and present itself at Jaffa Gate.
