Peace, Peace When There Is No Peace

While considering all that’s transpired recently in Israel, I was led to Jeremiah 6:14 – “They have healed the brokenness of My people superficially, saying ‘Peace, peace when there is no peace.’” It’s no coincidence that the Hebrew word for superficially is נְקַלָּה whose root is קָלַל which means cursed, to make despicable, to take lightly or have contempt for.

Interestingly, it’s the same word in the often-mistranslated Genesis 12:3 – “I will bless those who bless you and those who curse you, I will curse.” In other words, the G-d of Israel will אָרַר – place a curse on those who קָלַל – take Israel lightly or have contempt for her. I fear for those who take her lightly, especially in the Body of Messiah.

Between the recent signing of the MOU and the “ceasefires” between Israel and those who’ve sworn to destroy us, the following quotes by national leaders could easily cause one to assume that the world has gone completely mad.

Some American leaders: “Giving billions of dollars to theocratic lunatics who want to murder us is not a good idea.”

“If other countries have ballistic missiles, it’s a little bit unfair for Iran to not have some.”

On disarming Hamas: “They have behaved pretty well considering this wasn’t the lifestyle they were taught.”

Iranian leaders:”Our missiles are meant to be fired and they don’t like being talked about.”

I believe we are called to pray for world leaders but honestly, it’s getting more difficult to do that. I see that the stage is set and the curtain is about to be lifted on what’s next…
