Rafael and The Call of the Watchmen

Armenia – After the speaker’s fiery message on seeking more of יהוה’s presence, he invited people to the front for prayer. While watching the hungry faces gather, a teen showed up amidst the adults. As the preacher laid hands on their heads, many wept as prophetic words flowed like honey.

The teen moved closer with expectancy and at last his turn arrived! But the preacher touched his head for only a second and then moved on.

After watching this youth move away with his head down, clearly dismayed, I quickly followed him into the hall with one of the translators. Gently asking if I could pray for him, he agreed. When I began by saying, “I can see that you’re not just pursuing religion,” his reaction was to immediately grab me, weeping in desperation on my shoulder. As I embraced and wept with Rafael, יהוה gave me words of comfort and encouragement to speak over him.

While pondering Susan Rowe’s message on the call of the watchman that preceded the fiery preacher, I realized that if I hadn’t been watching, who knows how that spirit of hopeless despair might have crippled Rafael. So I’m gratefully acknowledging the mercy of יהוה on his tender-hearted soul while wondering how many others like Rafael we may have missed.

Oh יהוה, teach us to not just pray but to watch and pray!
